Spring into Fashion: The Classic Floral Print

How to Add a Touch of Sass to the Floral Print

Although it took a little longer than expected, Spring is finally making her much needed arrival. That’s right Winter, it’s time to stop being a drama queen and let somebody else step into the spotlight for once! With a new season comes new trends, or new takes on the classic trends we can’t seem to get over.

It’s become quite obvious that the floral print is never going away. If you’re like me, and you don’t necessarily feel your best in an outfit that’s reminiscent of your grandmother’s curtains, don’t worry because I’ve put together an outfit that adds a few thorns to the flower bed.

My edgy take on the traditional floral print will win over even the darkest fashionista.

Downsizing the flowers makes the floral print a little less dainty. Throw on a denim button-down and some brown ankle booties with a bit of a heel, and flowers instantly become edgy!

Sass-Up the Floral Print!

An easy way to sass-up a floral print is by going for a sexier style. A black fitted dress with a darker floral print definitely adds a little sex appeal to flowers! I paired an Anthropologie black/floral fitted dress with a button-down denim shirt- this is an unexpected combination that’s fun and flirty. The floral print of the dress is colorful, but the down-sized print and the darker-toned colors keep it from being to overwhelming- also flattering to a wide range of body types! The denim button-down gives the dress a more casual look that’s easy to take wear during the day, and if you go out at night you can easily take the button-down off.

I love the look of brown and black together, which is why the brown ankle booties were a no-brainer! With a floral pattern, I wanted to keep the accessories to a minimum- too much jewelry would make the outfit chaotic! The simple Alex and Ani cross wrap bracelet is a perfect finishing touch.
